Project Details
The Challenge
Yonder Cloud, a UK-based technology company specialising in HPC, AI, Digital Twin, and Metaverse solutions, identified a Connected Places Catapult funding call for transport-sector Digital Twin use cases. The goal was to deliver insights to the UK Technology and Research Innovation Board (TRIB) that could shape the UK’s National Digital Twin Strategy to 2035. The challenge was to create a compelling, practical use case that addressed real-world transport issues, met environmental objectives, and demonstrated measurable national benefits.
Our Solution
Leveraging our domain expertise in ports, logistics, and supply chains, One Digital Nation collaborated with Yonder Cloud to develop a Digital Twin use case targeting the UK’s road haulage driver shortage. The concept focused on improving domestic supply chain collaboration to reduce port congestion, cut vessel turnaround times, and ease global scheduling bottlenecks. We created a detailed technical report, executive summary, and TRIB-ready presentation that demonstrated how Digital Twins could test scenarios, identify feasible solutions, manage risks, and unlock gains in efficiency, productivity, environmental impact, and social benefit.
Results Achieved
- Delivered a fully compliant report, summary, and presentation on time and to specification
- Presented a step-change approach to tackling systemic transport challenges
- Provided TRIB members with a clear roadmap of opportunities, risks, and innovation pathways
- Contributed to shaping the conversation around the UK's National Digital Twin Strategy
